DESCRIPTION:In-person & Online Worship\nRain or Shine!\nPlease join us for a special service celebrating the children of our church! This informal outdoor worship service will include contributions by our children and a choir anthem. \nIf you can bring your own folding chair\, please do! We will also have some extras if you don’t have one. \nIf you can’t join us in-person: We will be broadcasting the service on Zoom\, as usual\, but we will not be running a PowerPoint. You can follow along using the Order of Service which will be on our website. (Zoom details listed below) \nEnjoy the Church Picnic! Come Join in the Fun!\nWe hope you’ll stay after the service to connect with old and new friends. \nBurgers\, dogs\, buns\, and condiments will be provided. Please bring your own beverages. Everyone is invited to bring a potluck salad\, side dish\, or dessert to share. Most importantly\, we want you to come to the picnic! \nEnjoy game time – fun for children and adults! SUMMARY:Westminster Commons: Longest Table Dinner
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER HERE \nPlease join us as we gather for dinner at a table that is big enough to include our whole city–long-time neighbors and brand new arrivals\, people who are involved with everything and people who mostly keep to themselves\, seniors and teenagers and everyone in between\, people who grew up speaking English and people who are still learning\, people who live in houses or apartments or shelters. We’ll all sit down for a meal and by the time we leave we’ll feel like we’re family. \nWe will start at 5:00 pm with some time for mingling\, music\, and hors d’oeuvres. Then\, at 5:30 pm or so\, we’ll all sit down together\, have a few toasts (wine and/or water!)\, and then enjoy some gourmet pizza and salad! Vegetarian\, Halal\, gluten-free–you name it\, we’ve got you covered. There will be some conversation starters at the table to help us get the conversation flowing. We’ll close with a circle where we can share blessings with each other. We’ll wrap up around 7:00 pm or a little after. \nTo make sure our table includes the widest possible mix of people\, we’re inviting different groups to help us extend the invitation. So while we will definitely make room for anyone who just drops in\, we want to be sure as many people as possible sign up in advance. We welcomed 180 people to our last Longest Table dinner and expect around 200 this year. Early registration is encouraged! \nREGISTER HERE \nThis event is offered completely free of charge. The Westminster Commons is hosted by the Westminster Presbyterian Church and led by a group of neighbors and friends. Our goal is to help different people and groups in the Capital Region connect to create a sense of common purpose\, address problems and enjoy life more. SUMMARY:English Conversation Club
DESCRIPTION:Do you want to practice your English in an informal setting? \nCome by Westminster any (or every!) Sunday afternoon\, starting at 3:00 pm for a Conversation Club run by RISSE (Refugee and Immigrant Support Services of Emmaus). \nThere is no cost (free!) and anyone looking to practice English is invited to participate. \nHow will this work? \nWe meet in the Welles Room and our time together begins as a whole group. We will then pair people together for conversation in twos or threes. After 15 minutes\, we take a break and find a new conversation partner. The lead volunteer has conversation starters on hand such as magazines so it is easy to get a conversation started. We serve tea and cookies. \nCome once to give it a try or come every week! \nWe need volunteers \nAre you interested in helping new English language learners improve their skills?
