FEBRUARY’S THEME–LOVE IN ACTION:
Our theme for February, Love in Action. teaches a deeper, biblical concept of love beyond feelings and gifts. Over four weeks, it teaches children aged 6-12 how Jesus exemplified love through actions that included everyone, forgave freely, and put others first. This course challenges common ideas of love and guides children through Jesus’ teachings about true affection and kindness.
Main Idea: True love acts courageously and selflessly, following Jesus’ example to transform the world one heart at a time.
Gospel Connection: Jesus showed the ultimate love by dying for us, turning our hearts towards God. When we follow His steps, loving even those who are hard to love, we live out the Gospel, showing that Jesus’ way changes us and the world.
Series “Hook” for Kids: Everyone has their favorite friends, the ones they can’t wait to talk to in the morning or would always invite to their birthday party. It’s normal to want to give Valentine’s gifts and presents to these friends who make us feel good. But Jesus turns this idea on its head. What if, instead of only being nice to someone who makes you feel good, you were kind to those who might make you feel bad? Or what if you stopped to think about things you might be doing that make others feel bad? Join us in LOVE IN ACTION to discover Jesus’ radical ideas about love that can really change the world, starting with our own hearts!
LESSON OUTLINE
Week 1: Wait, Love Who?
- Bible Story: Loving Your Enemies – Matthew 5:43-48
- Main Idea: Love reaches out to even those who are hard to love
- Gospel Connection: Jesus loved us even when we did not know him. His love on the cross teaches us to love everyone, showing us the true power of God’s love in action.
Week 2: Losing Count
- Bible Story: The Parable of the Unforgiving Servant. Matthew 18:21-35
- Main Idea: Forgiveness is not just a one-time act, it’s a continual choice that mirrors Jesus’ forgiveness.
- Gospel Connection: Jesus forgives us again and again. By forgiving others, we reflect His endless mercy and open our hearts to God’s transformative love.
Week 3: No Limits
- Bible Story: Greater Love Has No Man Than This – John 15:9-17
- Main Idea: True love means putting others first even when it’s hard.
- Gospel Connection: Jesus laid down his life for us, the ultimate act of love.When we sacrifice for others, we follow His example and spread His love to the world.
Church School Schedule:
- First Sunday of the month we will meet in-person only
- All other Sundays we will meet online only
Curriculum:
We shall use the Children’s Ministry Curriculum, which is adaptable to all denominations and easy to use during in-person and online settings. Each month, we will have a new theme.
