“From the Table to the Garden”

As he came near and saw the city, he wept over it, saying, “If you, even you, had only recognized on this day the things that make for peace!” –Luke 19:41-42
This Sunday–weather permitting–we’ll begin worship outside our State Street doors (with chairs provided for those who prefer). We’ll wave our palms, shout “Hosanna!” and sing as we parade into our sanctuary together. Once inside, we’ll continue the story, reading together Luke’s account of the beginning of Jesus’ last week.
Our goal this Sunday is not only to hear the story of Jesus, but also to feel it, to step into it. This story is at the heart of the Christian faith for a reason—it exposes the lies that become the basis for violence and proclaims the truth of God’s wondrous love for us.
