Each year, Advent begins not with the stories of Jesus’ birth, but with stories about endings. This morning, we’ll hear Jesus foretell the end of many of the things his listeners valued the most: families, communities, homes, and even the temple, their most holy place. These words echo our own fears about the future of our church, our nation, and our planet. Jesus proclaims hope in these fearful times saying, the biggest news of the day is not what is ending, but what is beginning.
