Thank You I want to thank everyone who has made my first month at Westminster Presbyterian Church a great experience. People have welcomed me in conversations as I try to get to know you better. Those on Session, Trustees, various committees, and those involved with activities have put up with my questions and been patient as I try to get up to speed. I have been invited to share in calling on members less able to get out on their own by some of you. Others have invited me to share in activities or groups they are involved with. An Invitation: April 29, 2018 I have an invitation for you in return. I’m asking the congregation to come on Sunday, April 29, and stay for a conversation after church (and over lunch). I want as many as possible to help fill me in about this church – its history and its strengths. During the conversation, everyone will be asked to share a good memory from his/her time in the church and then to share a sad memory. All will be shared with the whole group. Then based on the answers, I’m asking everyone there to identify a strength on which the church can build based on the good memories and then something to leave behind based on the bad memories. This will help me (and everyone there) get a quick overview of the history, of the valued traditions, and how these factors impact the future. This exercise has been helpful to me as I’ve started at other churches; it lets you all know that I want to listen and learn; and I have never done it without people leaving with smiles at the cherished and warm memories that have been shared. Rev. Bill Schram began his ministry with Westminster in March and is the current Interim Minister. Bill attended McCormick seminary in Chicago and met his wife Jenny there. They have served as co-pastors and in separate positions. He has served churches in urban, near suburb, small town, county seat towns in various positions such as pastor, associate pastor, interim pastor, and hospital chaplain. He and Jenny have two natural and one foster daughter. Delightfully, they now have a granddaughter to enjoy.
