Volunteers are needed to prepare meals for the Emergency Overflow Homeless Shelter.
Have you felt concern or uncomfortable when seeing someone with a sign that says something like, “Homeless – Can you help?” Providing support in these situations can be tricky. One way you can make a difference when joining Westminster’s work at the Capital Area Council of Churches’ (CACC) Emergency Overflow Homeless Shelter is to provide a nourishing dinner for guests on a Sunday night.
At the nearby Emergency Overflow Shelter, Westminster volunteers have been welcoming guests and providing hot meals since its inception in 2001. On Sundays during the season – from November through April – volunteers sign up to prepare and deliver nutritious meals for shelter guests. Meals are prepared in your home and delivered to the Shelter. You are welcome to sign-up to provide one meal or more during the season. Arrangements are in place for contact-free delivery.
The Shelter, located at First Lutheran Church in Albany, opens for the cold season on November 1st and operates through April 30th.
