We are excited to welcome Corey Ellis to our pulpit on Martin Luther King Jr. Sunday. Mr. Ellis is President of the Albany Common Council, a position he has held since 2018. He co-authored the city’s equity agenda legislation and co-authored legislation creating an Independent Citizens Police Review Board. Mr. Ellis helped to found the Albany Land Bank and the Black Chamber of Commerce. He grew up in Albany, graduating from Bishop Maginn High School, Hudson Valley Community College, and Fordham University. He is a member of the Greater Saint John Church of God in Christ and a powerful speaker.
Mr. Ellis will stay for conversation with the congregation during our Second Hour and will share some thoughts specifically about Albany’s role as a “Sanctuary City” that welcomes immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers.
