Westminster Commons: The Longest Table

Join neighbors and friends at Westminster Church. All ages are welcome. This initiative is supported by the US@250 Fellows Program of New America.

This event is modeled on similar dinners that have happened in cities in the U.S. and all over the U.K. While the size and logistics of these events are quite varied, the intention of all of them is to bring a diverse community together around a shared table to enjoy a meal, have conversations, and celebrate connection.

Our time together will start at 4:00 pm with an hour of mingling, live acoustic music, and hors d’oeuvres. During this time, we will set our shared table and dress it up with flowers, candles, and whatnot. Then, at 5:00 pm or so, we’ll all sit down together, have a few toasts (wine and/or water!), and then enjoy a meal provided by our neighbors at Apartment Pizza, a very local, very delicious pizza maker! Vegetarian, Halal, gluten-free–you name it, we’ve got you covered. Some conversation starters will be at the table to help us get the conversation flowing. We’ll change seats for dessert, close up the meal together, and then we’ll all clean up. If a dance party breaks out after all of this, we’ll just go with it.

We kindly request that you register in advance for this meal (although we never turn anyone away). Sign up here.

This event is offered completely free of charge. The Westminster Commons is hosted by the Westminster Presbyterian Church and led by a group of neighbors and friends. Our goal is to help different people and groups in the Capital Region connect to create a sense of common purpose, address problems and enjoy life more. The Commons is supported by the US@250 Fellowship at New America.
