Volunteers are needed to prepare meals for the Emergency Homeless Overflow Shelter.
Have you felt concern or uncomfortable when seeing someone with a sign that says something like, “Homeless – Can you help?” One way you can make a difference when joining Westminster’s work at the Capital Area Council of Churches’ (CACC) Emergency Homeless Overflow Shelter is to provide a nourishing dinner for guests on a Sunday night.
At the nearby Emergency Overflow Shelter, Westminster volunteers have been providing hot meals since its inception in 2001. On Sundays during the season – from November through April – volunteers sign up to prepare and deliver nutritious meals for shelter guests. Meals are prepared in your home and delivered to the Shelter. You are welcome to sign-up to provide one meal or more during the season. Arrangements are in place for contact-free delivery.
New Location as of November 2024
Big news for the Shelter–they now have a new home at The First Church in downtown Albany! Staff and volunteers are busy getting things organized in the new location. The plan is to be up and running by late November and then operate each night through the end of April.
